Gardens Alive is a catalog that specializes in organic soil and plant  
amendments and fertilizers.  It's been around for many years. Several  
years ago the owner bought the intellectual properties of the defunct  
mailorder
houses of Gurney's, Michigan Bulb, Breck's and Spring Hill. Last year  
he purchased the US distribution of Thompson and Morgan seed house. He  
may have investors , but it is not a venture
capitol group in the strict sense of the word - at least from what  
I've heard and read. I visted TandM in England last year and the new  
U.S.  owner was referred to as an individual rather then a company.
