Re: Question about Editors and product placement

In  general, newspapers do not allow writers to receive products, even to trial.  I know that's been the policy of NYT and WSJ.  Magazines like mine., on the other hand, want to trial new products before including them in a "What's New" column.

It depends on the organization about whether gifts/products/books/tickets, etc. can be accepted. Some companies' policy is to buy items. If you have a colleague in an ad agency or pr firm, you might ask if there's a list available that says what the policy is at differnt media companies.
