Monsanto Protection Act
This refers to language secretly added by Senator Roy Blunt (R.-Mo.) to a huge government appropriations bill. It compels the Secretary of Agriculture to approve applications to distribute seeds even if a Federal Judge rules against that distribution and planting. It is an outrageous violation of the separation of powers guaranteed by the Constitution. It enables biotech companies to defy the federal judiciary and distribute genetically engineered seeds, the safety of which is in serious doubt.
