Re: [GWL]: Mail order insect houses

Title: Re: [GWL]: Mail order insect houses
The North American Fruit Explorers (NAFEX) and the Home Orchard Society (HOS) have people who work with orchard bees of several species for fruit tree pollination and some of the members sell tubes of them.  There are a few members who have been experimenting with bumblebees as well.  This latter work is modeled after some of the bumble bee colonies/houses sold in Europe for greenhouse pollination.
I have links to both groups on my web site.

Hi folks,

I'm trying to put together an article for my www.intriguinginsects.com <http://www.intriguinginsects.com> site that covers potential Christmas gits for insect-loving gardeners.  Are there any on-line mail order companies out there that provide lacewing hibernation boxes, nest boxes for mason bees etc?  Even special seed mixes for attracting butterflies, bees to the garden?  Anything promoting charities / conservation groups is especially welcome.

Any other ideas for on-line 'insect gifts' also appreciated (please reply off-list if your suggestion is really off topic).

And while Lon is asking people to plug new products - my latest 'product' ;-) is an article about fig pollination. If you're interested, check out 'Figs and fig wasps: a tale of specificities' at www.intriguinginsects.com <http://www.intriguinginsects.com>

Thanks for your help,

Peter
