Hmm.  Trying to decide if what I do is cheap or not.  I almost never buy
plants in a nursery because what I grow isn't usually sold there.  I go out
and find material and propagate it myself to get what I want.  Actually, I
do that with many other things that I might buy at a nursery because it's
more fun to start my own and see it grow from the very start.  How many
growers ever know what the first seed leaves of a tree look like?  Or how a
perennial grows in it's first year, when the training really starts?
In some ways I'd have to say I'm cheap because I only buy plants when they
aren't available any other way than from a nursery.  But hey, how good a
gardener are you if you can't start your own plants? :-)
