I saw your note about your column and Q&A for the website....no contact with the 'owners' but still getting questions.

For two years I was an 'expert' on Allexperts.com.  In that time I had over 1500 questions and follow ups...was the highest rated garden person on the site. It kept me on my toes and I loved doing the research and helping people from all over the country and beyond.  For not apparent reason I was summarily dropped in September.  Couldn't get anyone on the site to answer email nor could anyone else.  They seemed to have changed their format but the site remained active.  I was so angry after putting in so much work and then just involuntarily 'disappearing.'  I eventually called the site owner About.com and was told that there had been some staffing changes and cutbacks and that the parent company was not doing anything with the site other than letting it run on its own..no maintenance...nothing.  They indicated that if someday they had the staff to make changes or adjustments they'd try to find out what happened.  I suspect that some of the fired staff may have sabotaged parts of the site.  So, after probably 1000 hours of volunteer work not even a thank you.

Seems you are in a similar situation.  Garden writers should probably publicize those sites that are doing these kinds of things and ask our readers to avoid them.  They still derive revenue (dwindling I hope) from our volunteer work with no reciprocal consideration, acknowledgment...or even a simple 'thanks'.
