Diana,
Many communities around me have banned leaf burning, too. Unfortunately, the one I live in hasn't seen the light. A big controversy has developed between those who feel that leaf burning is their "God Given Right" and part of what makes fall special (cough, cough!) and the obviously more intelligent beings who know pollution when they smell it. Then there are others who could be persuaded not to burn if they don't have to go to the trouble of bagging all those leaves and paying for their disposal. I'm planning to illuminate the issue through my column.
