Re: Tires In The Garden


Brook,  I know the steel belts make tires difficult to recycle for some uses, 
but I can't imagine there would be sufficient Ferrous ions to make a problem. 
 One could (maybe should) change the growing medium every year so that one is 
sure the medium has good structure and the right levels of chemicals 
necessary for good production.  The old stuff could be put on the compost 
pile or widely scattered among woody plants.  If there is a couple of cubic 
yards, it might be worthwhile to have it analyzed.  Intellectual curiosity 
might drive me to do that anyway.
