Re: Technical and slightly off topic
Since the subject of DVD writing came in I thought I would let people
know about a website I found particularly useful.
http://www.dvdrhelp.com
I am not sure what the end use of peoples DVD's are but this site has
compatibility lists with stand alone players etc. If you are just using
it for your own storage or to transfer from one computer to another then
there are less compatibility issues. But I have been looking to transfer
garden segments that I do for local cable TV and sell them as a
compilation. As a result of my research I am still waiting for things to
sort out before buying a DVD burner. My understanding is that commercial
DVD's are made from a glass mold which puts all the pits that the laser
reads. The way things stand now there are still compatibility issues
with stand alone DVD players and DVD's where the pits are "burned" by a
laser in the computer's DVD writer. Again the site gives all the gory
details for those that are interested.
