Nan,
Get rid of the purse, and use one of the soft briefcases that have holders for pens, credit 
cards and everything else the purse held.  I have one that holds a laptop as well my digital 
camera, and it will take the 35 MM camera if the laptop is left at home.  Mine was a gift but 
I've seen them at places like Staples and the Levenger catalog.
