Re: Aconitum and all of the rest...

Hello Kirk,
Just to say what recently bloomed or is in bloom now in the garden that have been reliable for me over the years:
Aconitum, of course, since this perennial started the discussion. Several cultivars of fall blooming anemone from pure white to double pinks. Turtlehead just finished up. There are several cultivars and species of this reliable perennial. No one has mentioned hardy cyclamen for up close and personal. There is a whole family of tricyrtis to play with and you can have one in bloom from late June though last of October if the weather is good. I am especially fond of Gentiana. Many are summer, fall and into winter bloomers.... look into some of the natives. All shade plants, of course, since that is where I garden. Our native Lobelia in red.. cardinalis.. and the great blue just finished up a couple of weeks back. The Scutellaria, both native and non-native. Rebloomers such as our native Delphinium exaltatum, Dicentra exima.
Incidentally, I can not grow Crocosmia to save my life.... sigh.

lots of snipping...
What has this list found to be hale and hardy to their individual zones?
Your information will be valued and used. Hopefully, if this thread
continues we can take it over to the gardener's list.
