Re: GWA website suggestions
Right before the annual convention, probably a bad
time, I tried to find a way to access the EBSCO
database in my area but could not find it at any
library, botanical garden, or even the universities
and federally related libraries that have
horticultural holdings. I talked with the people at
EBSCO, Sally Williams, librarians, you name it, but
there is no way for me to access the database here in
Northern Virginia. So I contacted Mr. LaGasse and said
that as a non-profit association, GWA could pay a
small fee for it but offer it as a great benefit of
membership to the members. In fact we would be the
primary users of such a database, we are the target
audience. But the answer I got was the standard, "we
will look into it." I even told EBSCO to contact GWA
but don't know what happended to that conversation.
I agree that a lot could be done to bring GWA to the
this century and to make it much more valuable and
useful to members. I hope that GWA considers Kathy's
suggestions.
