Re: Color Kindle is here
> So how do you like it so far?
I am already a Kindle owner and have bought about thirty books. I am hoping
to publish some of my books in Kindle form, so I have been following its
progress. On the Amazon location yesterday there was an illustration of a
man reading a colorful Winnie the Pooh book to children on his PC Kindle.
When I went to the Amazon page and downloaded the PC Kindle software, it was
easy and the product opened right up. I also had a window showing me the
titles already in my Kindle library. I opened a few of them so I could see
how the software worked. It looked good.
The Kindle App opens in a window on your screen. If you enlarge or decrease
the size of the window, you get more or less text accordingly, but the text
font stays the same size. I think there is a place to set the text size but
I haven't found it yet.
One book was illustrated (B & W) and the illustrations were small no matter
what size I made the window. But they were clear.
One of the books had color text in addition to the black and white. I still
haven't seen a Kindle book with large color illustrations.
In one book I clicked on a website listed in the footnotes. It was a live
link and my browser opened up a new window and went to the website
mentioned.
I've been busy with various projects so I haven't spent much time on this
yet. Nonetheless, I have a very positive take on this new development.
On another subject, a competing product, The Nook, has ads that say it lets
you lend a book to a friend. During the time you lend it you can't read it,
even if it is digital. Makes sense to me and is fairer to the author.
My real Kindle will do voice, computer generated. Hmm, I think I'll see
where the Kindle PC software is on that.
