What is the absolutively, positively, most fragrant

I've grown old roses and new hybrids. Breeders in the last 5 years or so
have done much to bring back the form, fragrance and disease-resistance of
old roses, only in hybrid forms that rebloom or are constantly blooming.
That is the problem with some of the really fragrant old roses such as Rose
de Mai and Autumn Damask, both staples of the rose perfume and oil industry.
They are once-blooming in early summer.
Two roses that have terrific perfume that I recommend are:
Paul Neyron--for warmer climates (zones 7-11). It is also cultivated in the
French perfume fields of Grasse. The hot pink flowers are redolent with
fragrance. It is a hybrid perpetual and blooms in flushes that are about 6
weeks apart. You can purchase it through the Antique Rose Emporium catalog.
Rogue Royale--a Romantica series rose from the House of Meilland. It has
the bourbon flower form--multi-petaled and quartered, deep, rich purplish
red color and an aroma that is heady--like raspberries and citrus. It
blooms non-stop and is very disease resistant. It is hardy to Zone 5
without protection and will survive in Zones 3 and 4 with protection. Any
garden center that carries Conrad Pyle Roses or Star Roses can order this
cultivar for you.
I can send you jpgs of either rose offlist if you'd like see them.
