Not just plants and seeds, but film, CDs, magnetic storage media, and
anything with carbon paper would be damaged by irradiation.

I've heard rumors that certain materials could be shipped something like 
a 'NO-IR' stamp for a slight increase in price and an identity check.

Maybe it's time to start wrapping things that I send in aluminum foil.  :)
