Re: [GWL]: Irradiation of Mail & Plant Fallout

As an owner of a seed company I'm very concerned about irradiation of seed.
There are certain obligations we have as to the integrity and viability of
our product that most of us take quite seriously.  The effect of radiation
is it scrambles the DNA. I have queries out and know that people are looking
for research on what constitutes a toxic level and I'll pass it along when I
have that information.
Right now I  see a multitude of ways in which this could prove quite
difficult for the mailorder gardening industry.  This is a very serious
issue for the postal service and those who are opening mail in their daily
lives. Last Saturday, in an effort to allay concerns about the contents of
our packages, we began labeling everything with a sticker telling the
recipient if they had any questions about this package please call our 800
number.  Last Saturday I thought I was ahead of the curve.
