Garden Books Not Selling
Well, I just thought I might vent here and hopefully give some of you
another insight into the reason garden books are not selling.
Two months ago I set up a book signing at our local bookstore. One
newspaper in the area did a front page article on me and the signing,
the other did nothing.
I sat today for over two hours and sold under 10 books. They had three
different ones to choose from.
I was talking to people as they came in and these are the reactions I
got in order of the ones most given downward.
1. I don't garden
2. I don't cook
3. I don't have any money
4. We grow herbs in pots but don't use them
The bookstore was busy and did have three employees working.
So, what were people buying? Bestsellers and children's books! Maybe us
garden writers should write children's gardening books!
