Re: Organizing Catalogs
Should I confess?
I alphabetize those catalogs and press kits that I keep. Catalogs have
current information on plant cultivars and tools.
I have three big cardboard boxes fitted with legal size hanging file
folders. They're on the floor of a closet. I use shirt cardboards that stick
up for big markers. I can pull up a folder with a few catalogs in it without
bothering the rest. For my favorite catalogs such as Park Seed, Burpee, and
Thompson & Morgan I use one folder apiece and keep multiple years. For the
others, the folder just has the initial letter. A couple of times a year I
throw out the old issues of the catalogs as I put in the newer ones. Until
then, the incoming catalogs stack up on top of the nearest box.
When they start to topple over, it's time for a purge. No more can be kept
than will fit into the boxes.
