plain text vs. HTML

Title: plain text vs. HTML
Here's what Larry London says about converting all the GWL postings to plain text, before they are sent out to the list.

There's no way to disable html in Mailman lists at this time.
Users will just have to do it themselves, its just not that difficult.
The other option is for you to moderate the list and preview all posts
before they get sent to all subscribers; somehow I doubt you'll want to
do that.

It still comes down to each member policing his/her own mail.  That means to NOT send attachments
or html (which often ends up as attachment _in addition to_ a preceeding
text version of the same message.
All they have to do is configure their mail clients not to format
messages with html coding.
I'll admit that Netscape and even Opera clients leave a LOT to be
desired, deliberately it sometimes seems,
probably as a result of Microsoft's meddling and intervention (really
disappointing how crippled Netscape 7
email client is). Agent news/email client is a great program and is easy
to configure.

So learn how to get into your e-mail and make the changes.

P.S.  For comparison, this letter is a mix of html and plain text.  Though the HTML may not show since I haven't added any odd fonts, bold face, etc.
