Re: Opium poppies


I'm sorry to report that Thompson & Morgan are no longer selling opium poppy
cultivars in the United States. One more example of our collective paranoia!
They still sell two P. paeonifllorum cultivars (that species is another name
for the opium poppy) but all somniferum cultivars are now labeled "Sorry not
available along with a statement that "T&M recognizes that U.S. Law
prohibits the cultivation of Papaver somniferum and therefore is not
offering this species for sale in the U.S." Wonder if poppy-seed rolls are
next as poppy seeds for bakeries are also opium poppies.
