Dear Saxon and all, I've been hearing numerous photographers recently saying the very same thing as Saxon about digital. They also are shooting film -- in some cases not having their slides mounted, but storing them in archival film sheets. (Light Impressions offers ones that hold both the film and a contact sheet.) Rod Planck, one of the best known contemporary nature photographers mounts his slide film when it goes out to a publication. This conserves space. I'm about to purchase the new Nikon D100, a digital camera without any time delay that will accept all of my Nikon lenses but lacks some of the bells and whistles of the top of the line digital model. It feels as if I should be jumping into digital more seriously -- and have to for the newspaper I work for -- but, in terms of my fine art flower photography, I think I will be using Fuji film for a very long time. Best wishes, Andrea Barrist Stern |
