In the last magazine article I did (and I do mean the LAST) the editor
made a few small changes and managed to incorporate four errors, errors
that went out under my name.

And a couple of years ago a journalism professor put out a contract on
me. He wrote a column that was published by small papers regionally, and
I would red-pencil them and send them to him. I could find as many as a
dozen errors in punctuation, grammar, and diction in a 600-800 word
piece. He would get absolutely livid; it was the most fun I had outside
of the garden. He finally pulled his column from the paper I read, which
was no loss.
