an editor's work...

I would be uncomfortable having my edited writing appear in print without having seen it with my own eyes. The magazines for which I write all provide an edited version for my approval. The editor at the newspaper for which I write always asks before major changes (or even fairly minor ones) I received a copy of my edited book manuscript and was told by the managing editor that it was up to me to accept and change or ignore the edits and suggestions from the copy editor (almost all of which I accepted).

I have done a small amount of editing and it has made me grateful for the editing of others. It isn't an easy job.
