Dr. Bargyla Rateaver, 1916-2006
Many of you were familiar with Dr. Rateaver's work in organics. She
was a pioneer and world-renowned expert on the subject, published
several books, and ran a small, specialty publishing company.
I received this email announcing her recent death and thought that it
might be of interest to friends of hers and other members of this list.

I am sad to tell you that Bargyla passed away on September 17th, in
the early hours of the morning. She appears to have passed peacefully,
and without pain. I have collected a few pictures of her in an online
album HERE.
The last time that I visited with her was until the early evening hours on
the 16th, the day before she expired. Near the end of her life, she had
enough trouble breathing, that she didn't speak much, but she did
acknowledge remembering you when I was speaking with her a couple of days
before her end. I reminded her every day that she was loved and had many
friends, and I would run through some of the names just to remind her. I
know that she regarded you as her friend.
In accordance with her wishes, Bargyla's cremation and scattering was
private; she wished no elaborate or costly funeral. I do plan a memorial
service for her so that she and her work can be recognized. Rather than
having the inconvenience of rushing to a funeral service on short notice, I
have elected to hold her memorial service some time in the future so that
anybody wishing to attend it can plan and travel without great
inconvenience. I have not yet determined the date or exact location of the
memorial service for her, but I expect it to be located in the southern
California area and probably near the end of the year or very early next
year.
Because I need to determine how large a facility is needed for the
memorial, please reply and let me know if you want to attend one in that
location during that time. Thank you for your reply.
