any thoughts on this?

Speakers who are listed in the GWA speakers bureau got this email today...what's YOUR reaction? CLF

1) We can offer this opportunity to any gardening communicator, provided:

2) They agree to follow a basic set of SafeLawns power point slides that we will create and provide in a downloadable format.

3) They agree that the SafeLawns message is a 100 percent organic message, meaning we don't give people allowances for IPM (occasional use of chemicals).

4) Speakers agree to thank SafeLawns sponsors. Speakers do not have to endorse the sponsors or even say nice things about them, but they do need to thank them.

5) Speakers need to hand out SafeLawns literature, which will include contact info for the sponsors, the non-profit supporters, and for my book and any other books SafeLawns recommends.

6) We will put a photo and bio on the site, with a link to their personal or company web sites. The email requests for speaking will come through us and forwarded to Linda Flagg(Our current coordinator). Linda will then facilitate the connection between the speaker and the organization. We will put the speakers' areas of residence in bold, so that organizations can pick regional people if they want to.

7) Speakers set their own fees and agree to give 10 percent of that fee to SafeLawns, if the request came through the SafeLawns web site
- or if someone contacts the speaker directly and asks them to give the SafeLawns talk. Some of this will need to be on the honor system.
We are capping the 10 percent sharing at $100.

8) Promotion will primarily come through the web site for now.
Everything is building toward the March public launch of this, with articles in magazines like Better Homes & Gardens, appearances on national TV, as well as radio, newspaper and media around the country. Once a regional speaker is up to speed on the SafeLawns mission, they can handle their local media requests and get that publicity for themselves. The key here is that there is just one of Paul Tukey and there will be strength in numbers. But we want everyone to be giving essentially the same message.
