Universes
Some of you here were at my GWA talk where I talked about universes and how
they were going to be the next website space. I think I was talking about
near term futures at that point. Since that time, I've been invited to have
my own universe at a basic universe creation site (on beta test still) where
I'm learning how to make gardens - not very realistically I"m afraid at this
point but stil...
Certainly not as realistically as this resource
http://www.beyondspaceandtime.org/FCBSTWeb/web/index.html# An effort by
IBM and the Chinese - you can download the entire universe site at this
link. The movie there is very interesting about how they actually put it
together. Be forewarned though that it's a bit of a largish download
around 256mg on my mac - win systems may be smaller. This is not for dialup
users. Not only will you get a glmpse of the future, you'll learn
something about the Forbidden City. It also takes a long time to load up
and run on your own computer and the speed of your system will determine how
it "plays".
And it's a major time-sucker. :-)
Have fun.
