Re: plant combo suggestions, please
You could try a smaller hosta like 'Gold Drop' perhaps. Or maybe do a
groundcover planting of European ginger, although that would be
initially expensive. While they spread slowly, they spread steadily
and they would give you a nearly evergreen background.
