columbine leaf miner

Thanks, everyone for the suggestions on controlling/hiding/removing columbine leaf miner damage... unfortunately I don't like these plants enough to want to do ANYTHING with them other than plant something that will distract... I don't want to have to cut them down, spray them or deadhead, and I really don't want to plant more, variegated or not. I want to plant something in and among them that will be of interest now and when they die, should I be so fortunate to lose them. They are not, by the way, planted in shade, but in afternoon sun, on a slope. Perhaps that will hasten their departure?

I appreciate all of your suggestions but so far I'm still looking for that companion plant... if John thinks that the creeping jenny would eat the columbines for breakfast I might go with that, although it is "Banned in Boston" as of 2009....

with thanks,
C.L.
