Because of the all-rights contract, Rodale owes you nothing legally.
However, I feel it is a matter of common courtesy to at least inform you
if a book you contributed substantially to is being revised or reissued
so you don't have to hear about it from other people first. Also, at
very least, common courtesy requires a courtesy copy.
One reason why I am happy to forgo working with outfits that insist on
all rights (and won't negotiate) is that I think such contracts are a
good indicator for how the company views and plans to treat the writer
long-term. That is, Rodale isn't even treating you with courtesy, which
costs no money. All writers take note!
