RE: [GWL]: Organic-Style/OG-Why?
I don't think they went broke paying writers lavish pay. I suspect they
were paying way too much in their attempt to increase circulation (they
even had a lottery of some kind, paying $1 million to a winner), and their
advertising rates were too low. It mystifies me why magazine publishers
never realize there's no balance between outgo and income until it's too
late. OG was hassling me every year to re-subscribe, and I finally found
out I had about 4 years to go on the subscription anyway. Maybe the Rodale
family wanted to get rich off the enterprise, all at once. Margaret Lauterbach
