Scott,
Using pictures to replace descriptions is very tricky. The perspective
of the entire plant with close-up views of the flower, foliage, seed
capsule are important elements that funds and space would seem to preclude.
Having a web page providing more horticultural and botanical information
would be a very helpful alternative. For those who are not connected to
the internet, there are fax on demand automated systems that could send
out a page or two of specific information if requested by the customer.
The question that must be answered is "How much information can you
afford to provide without making a sale?". There is no magic answer. The
printing costs will continue to increase and postal officials are
speaking to increase rates again for 1st class mail so other rates will
increase too.
