the reason for the list

In a rare appearance on the list, and at the risk of annoying many, more active, members, I will weigh in on the side of the moderator. I signed up for this list hoping to read discussions on garden writing, garden publishing, garden editing and garden photography. Discussions of moles, what’s your favorite tomato and what purple plants do you like remind me of what irritates me about GWA — that it seems to lack a focus on writing (or editing or publishing or photograph) and instead is more of a marketing organization. My favorite part of the newsletter is the photographer’s corner, where professionals talk about their profession (and I’m not even a photographer).

And, yes, I have posted to the list before. And once, there were no answers! I was asking photographers about how they are paid (and how much) for single photographs used in a book (maybe there is "photograph researcher," as they are called in some books, on the list). I'd still like to know!
