I sent out a reply a little while ago, but I sent it from the wrong email
address.  You probably won't see it until Lon approves the message.

Anyhow, I became inspired and wrote a quick program to go out and get
a list of subscribers for the gwlphotos list.  Basically, every hour
at the quarter-hour (i.e. 12:15, 1:15, ...) the hort.net server goes
out and downloads a list of members from the gardenwriters list.  Only
people who are on that list are now allowed to post to the gwlphotos
address as well.

The unfortunate side-effect is that anyone who has their address concealed
from the GWL membership (that setting can be changed on the preferences
page at 

   http://lists.ibiblio.org/mailman/listinfo/gardenwriters

) will not be able to send to gwlphotos.

The benefit is that non-subscriberes won't be able to send unsolicited
bulk email (spam) to the gwlphotos address any more.
