Press release suggestions

It was nice to hear from some of you who attended the recent National GWA convention. Family matters kept me here on Long Island this year so I sure look forward to next year's meeting!

This week I accepted a position on the board of directors for the American Hemerocallis Society. This is my second time there, a few years off was much needed :-)

Beginning on January 1st, I will be the new Publicity Chairperson. Not much if anything has been done in the past years and I have the freedom to do what ever I think will help further the gardening world's interest in Daylilies. Of course, the whopping budget of $100 will keep my feet firmly on the ground.

I would greatly welcome any suggestions on how to "spread the word". A press release type of package came to mind instantly. Part of the job description suggests that once the award winners (Stout Medal and so on) are announced at our annual meeting, this information could be passed on to the numerous gardening publications.

Beyond the written world, I'd also like advice as to how to offer interviews for radio programs and how to get on lecture circuits outside of the American Hemerocallis Society.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions. My first "to do" item will be to finally get that article to Fran Gustman :-)
