I run a few mailman lists and I have to disagree with the above.  The
content filtering rules affect list traffic, not just the archiving
function.  In the "Content filtering" section, the first line is: 
"Policies concerning the content of list traffic."  Here is where you
can add mime type filters that will scrub some or all attachments per
the rules you specify.
