Re: Simple's neon at Chanticleer
John,
As a creative person, this is what I love about America: there is no one aesthetic. We have the freedom to have bad taste, and, thank goodness, taste is in the eye of the beholder.
I love gardens and I love neon. I have a neon flamingo, (the flamingo being the ultimate icon of tacky) next to a gazing ball (the tacky-runner-up) in my living room. No, I dont want either one in my garden right now, but even so I say long may they rein.
I love gardens. Gardens with plants, teak benches, granite birdbaths, white wooden arbors, plants, bowling balls, twig furniture, water features, gnomes, plants, statues of St. Francis, obelisks, plants, posts, clam baskets, plants, gazing balls and flamingos. Did I mention plants? I especially love a garden that is filled with plants.
Fill them with plants and add neon, stainless steel or recycled soda bottles; just fill them. I say get outside and use your imagination. Pack your garden with plants, art, spirit and soul.
Keep at it, Simple.
Grow.
C.L.
