Re: GWA Meeting Critique
Sheri -- Several people made separate reservations at alternative
hotels, including one who opted to stay at a bed and breakfast in
Valley Forge.
Some of us actually brought the hotel issue up at the board meeting,
including a discussion about offering an alternative. It was decided
that the attendees should seek out alternatives on their own. Part of
that reasoning is that GWA needs to ensure a certain number of people
will take the rooms at the conference hotel or GWA eats the cost.
If GWA offered an alternative, it would be cannabalizing its
commitment in the primary hotel. At Plant Quest in Michigan, I opted
not to stay at the hotel where there were rooms reserved for the
event, but rather stayed at a less expensive place. So it's up to us
to do that.
