I wish I had gone to Valley Forge. It was across the street from the hotel.
B.C. Manion from Tampa told me she walked over there from the hotel, but it
was a harrowing trip across freeways. Had I thought, I might have taken a
cab.
Noel - goos meeting you at the show - glad you took advantage of so many of
the offerings.
I too regretted not getting over to Valley Forge but was told you canNOT walk
and must take a hotel shuttle, cab or drive over - and then it was a 2.5 hour
tram ride around the grounds - so that was a 3+ hour time investment we never
had a break for in our schedule. I try to make a point of seeing everything I
can at every travel opportunity - you never know if you'll ever be back that
way again.
But I do not feel too bad now about missing it - after returning home last
week I talked to a few history buffs and they said the park site is a "fake" -
basically constructed by the Boy Scouts in the '60s - much like Jamestown and
Williamsburg it is for tourists -- may be on "hallowed ground", but not much
authentic left there to see.
Sincerely,
Kathy Jentz
