Problem with E-mail Program, need help

Yo fellow list members.
I am having a terrible time trying to fix a problem with Nancy's  
email program on her Mac with OS X.  I wanted to change her email  
manager from Entourage (the Mircorsoft program that comes with Office  
for Mac) to "Mail" the email program that comes with OS X operating  
system.  I use Write and love it.
There are two problems.
The first is that I can't make the operating system accept that I've  
changed email programs.  In the past when I';ve done this, as it set  
up an account in the new program I get a message something like "do  
you wish to make this your dedicated email program" or some such.   
This time that did not happen.  I can't find a button anywhere to  
push to tell the computer to bag Entrourage and make Mail her primary  
email management program.  Any ideas?
Second problem - I remember a member of this list having this some  
time ago.  Nancy gets a double of every message that comes in on her  
Mail program.  Any ideas?
Thanks.  I caused this problem so to get out of very deep doo doo I  
have to fix it.
