Re: gardenwriters Digest, Vol 44, Issue 19
Jeff,
I'm a self-taught Mac geek. I have been using all the systems since
OS 6 and keep my daughter and a 78 year old friend trouble free (both
in different states than mine). I think I can help walk you through
the steps to fixing your problem, however, I make no absolute
guarantees.
The first need is to protect her received mail. I'm sure she must
have stored mail in Entourage. If she doesn't, the whole thing is
easier.
In the Applications folder, drag the Mail application icon (not a
folder icon) to the Dock if it isn't already there.
1. Launch Mail.
2. Choose "Import mailboxes" from the File menu in the menu bar.
3. Choose Entourage (it's the default on my system).
4. Click "continue" and follow the prompts. (I can't give step by
step beyond this as I don't use Entourage).
Once the mailboxes have been imported, simply drag Entourage to the
trash. Don't empty your trash until you are certain everything works
as she wants.
Whenever she wants to check her mail she can click on the Mail icon
in the Dock and choose "Get Mail". If you want to set it up to check
her mail every time she is connected or as soon as she boots the
system, I can tell you how to do that too.
If the imported mailboxes don't show up in Mail, choose "Show
Mailboxes" under the View menu.
On the doubles of her emails, it would take some question and answer
working for me to figure out exactly why that is, but I'd be glad to
give it a shot.
If you have more questions don't hesitate to ask.
