updates from the "Eat the View" campaign
Dear GWL,
I'm writing to update you on what's happening with the "Eat the View"
campaign to turn the "First Lawn" into the "First Garden."
We've got a shiny new animated YouTube video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCzgF8hrKMc
And two used, unanimated ones here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOXtNdQxGw8
and here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D29eCCSkDeY
We created a new "who's more likely to plant a victory garden on the White
House lawn" poll here:
http://tinyurl.com/6of9ha
While the result won't surprise you, the lopsidedness of the result so far
will.
Taking a cue from Governor Palin, we've put the White House lawn up for sale
on eBay in 1' x 1' parcels:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem
<http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260281018183>
&item=260281018183
But, unlike the Governor's eBay misadventure, our item is actually selling!
Why are we asking people to buy back the White House lawn? To make a
statement and a difference. "Buyers" agree to donate their parcels back to
the American people for the digging of the "First Garden" in 2009. Proceeds
from the symbolic sale go to help real people in the US and abroad to
achieve greater food security through gardening. You can even print out
your own "certificate of ownership." More on all that here:

For those who prefer facebook to eBay, we've got a new facebook cause here:
http://apps.new.facebook.com/causes/11991
We've also got a Twitter whatyamacallit, although please don't ask me to
explain what that is:
http://twitter.com/EatTheView
And a Flickr thingamabob:

And our White House food garden petition continues to grow. Please add your
name and voice here

Thanks for your help in spreading the word.
Roger
