wait-listed at symposium?

I am just wondering if any of you have experience with being "on standby" for GWA symposium events? Did you get in? I received my registration card in the mail and now that I've taken a closer look at it, I am dumbfounded. I am wait-listed for the Fri. reception, Sat. lunch, Sunday dinner, and all day Monday including the Banquet, plus the Eugene tour. Ummm, this seems a bit excessive considering there was no indication it was overbooked when I sent in my registration. The little insert mentioning the standby status says in the past they have managed to get everyone in, but.... this is a lot of uncertainty for paid events, I think.
