Perhaps because, like me, they are Irish garden writers who find the  
international nature of this list useful - so many of the issues are  
pan-national anyway

And no, I don't understand the need for a forum as well as a list -  
but that's probably because I'm lazy and I find it easier to deal  
with all email at once and simply delete without reading threads that  
don't look relevant to me rather than go to one website after  
another. I do belong to various forums but hardly ever check them
