Hi Margaret,

If you're asking whether people are leaving this listserv for the garden
writers discussion board that I set up, that certainly isn't necessary.
There are already a few ways for garden writers to communicate -- a group on
GardenWeb, a Yahoo group, and now a discussion board. Again, I only set this
up because so many people at GWA said they wanted one. I think people will
use whatever resources work best for them-- doesn't matter to me what form
of communication people choose, but I figure that if garden writers want a
discussion board, there's no reason for them not to have one.

It's not private in the sense of "exclusive" -- it's only private in the
sense that you need to set up a username and password (as you did for this
listserv originally), and then write a few words in the enrollment box to
let me know that you are garden writer and not a spammer. In other words,
the privacy aspect is only to keep spammers off and also to keep random
people from finding the discussion board on Google and joining in even if
they're not a garden writer.

Margaret and Judy, if you're having trouble signing, feel free to drop me a
note and let me know what's going on. I just need to know specifically what
message you're getting at what point in the process. So far 108 people have
signed up and maybe five of them had e-mailed me to say that they couldn't
figure out how to log on.  In every case, I was able to point them to the
step-by-step instructions and they realized that they had skipped a step.

I have not rejected a single application. I have approved everybody who has
signed up.
