Introductions from Pride of Place
Plants Inc. Salix integra ' Flamingo' Spectacular deep red variegated Salix that can be pruned several times during the growing season to produce new shoots that make the plant more compact for the desired stem length. First
pruning in March-April after the frost period is over.
The ideal product, would be to present a spherical shape with branches no more than 24 inches off the stem. Salix 'Flamingo' produces an enormous range of contrasting colors in the garden. Hardy perennial shrub. Soak in water before planting. Add plenty of compost to the soil. Liquidambar styraciflua ' Golden Sun' Everything about 'Golden Sun' is the same as the usual styraciflua but the stem is different, It's a Golden- Yellow. The rate of growth, the leaf shape and the shape of the plant is exactly the same as Liquidambar styraciflua. The autumn color produces red leaves and the yellow stem becomes very contrasting and special. As a dormant plant the color of the Stem brightens to become a brilliant golden-yellow. Betula pendula ' White edge' 'White Edge' is a very beautiful variegated Betula pendula. It is slower growing than Betula pendula and can be used for indoor forcing. This cultivar is not a street tree, but more ideally suited for the Independent Garden Center and Home Garden use. The variegated leaves are very similar to each other(uniform white edges). The leaves are not susceptible to leaf scorch in the heat of Summer. Caryopteris incana ' Autumn Pink' Is a beautiful pink colored Caryopteris. It flowers after the normal clandonensis types. It is a very compact grower and is a perfect cultivar for the visually attractive market. You will need to protect the plants against heavy frost. It is
slightly less hardy( Zones 6 to 9) than the clandonensis types, but
more
tolerant to high humid climates than clandonensis. The mature height is 24 - 30 inches. It's a welcome addition and color combination with the blue cultivars of Caryopteris. Clerodendrum bungei 'Pink Diamond' It's a very variegated Clerodendrum bungei type. The leaves show 4 different colors of green and white. The ultimate height is 30 inches. Pruning after 3 leaf pairs first appear and Pink Diamond will produce new shoots so you can sell a compact plant with 3 or more stems. The flowering starts with a red color and turns to pink later in the season. From the beginning to the end of flowering, you can enjoy this shrub for a period of 3 to 4 months. The plant does need pruning to produce the ideal selling shrub in one growing season. The plant is tolerant to sun and semi-shade. It is an ideal candidate for the container grown Patio Plant. Clerodendrum bungei 'Pink Diamond' is very fragrant and will attract butterflies to the large flower trusses. If you would
