a garden an asset?

I have come to realize that a beautiful landscaped yard is an asset when trying to sell a house. A yard of a compulsive gardener is not necessarily one.  People buying your house see it as too much work.  So perhaps it would be better if you dug up the plants before you try to sell.   Of course I never tell my husband that.
