If you are going to replant them right away, just put each plant (and
label?) in a plastic shopping bag and run water into them.  Hostas (I am
presuming that is what you are talking about) won't mind sitting in water
for a while.  And then line the vehicle with a tarp, of course!  If that is
not possible, you either have to put the bags in tubs and buckets, or dump
excess water out of them and put thick layers of newspaper on the floor of
the vehicle.

300 hostas in one car?  Sure, why not?  Just pile them in.  Well, if it's
S&S, you may only be able to fit in thirty.
