too large under lights

Please share your wisdom/experience.

I have several trays of TC plants under lights that have gotten way too
BIG.  I am of a mind to just cut them back, stimulate new growth and
continue growing them on until spring.  Has anyone done this?]

It works on plants outside.  Won't they do the same under lights?
