Dear DCA,
Forget planting hostas in the Dominican Republic. Hostas will grow
satisfactorily in temperate climates but not in your tropical climate.
Hostas need a period of 4 weeks or so with soil temperature below 40
degrees F. in the wintertime in order to break dormancy. You lack this
condition in the DR.
