Cross pollenation by hand--How?

I need some help here. Last year was the first year for me to collect
seed and grow hosta seedlings.  I left everything to the bees and they
seem to have done a good job.  However, I would like to try some crosses
on my own now.  Can someone help me with what to do.  Don't use tec
terms, as I am new at this thing.  Growning those seedlings sure does
help get one through the winter.
